Instrumental Lessons

In my drum lessons i have been working on nailing the starting placements and how many bars of fill would be required to make up the the rest of the rhythm so that i can be in the correct place to start the next rhythm correctly to keep the music together. I have also been working on improvisation so that i can keep going even if i did make a mistake. I feel that improvisation is a big part of being successful at the drums as it shows talent and that you can stay with the music.

I have been practising at home quite a bit because i'm still having a couple of problems with getting all the starting placements perfect as i am at the moment not capable to do one of the configurations every time and i'm having a hard time with it!

I have also been working on improvisation. I feel this is something positive to work on as a drummer as it allows you to carry on after a mistake.

I have now moved onto creating a drum cover of Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. I had some trouble with getting the main beat correct because it clashed with a different beat that i had become used to playing therefore had a very hard time changing my reflex from my beat to Uptown Funk's beat.

Despite the hard time I had with getting the beat mastered i decided to carry on with the song instead of changing it for something that wouldn't be as troubling.

After i started to get the right beat it has become a lot easier to get on with the other parts of the song and I am now able to play the majority of the individual fills and beats. The song still needs some work. However it is going well and is improving alot.

Overall the sessions are going well and progress is being made at a good pace, i would to sort out my drum kit situation at home as it isn't setup at the moment. Which doesn't allow me to practice at home. The progress that is currently being made would be increased if my drum kit was setup and available to use a lot more frequently.
